Server Storage Solutions (S3S) from Belgium builds custom servers and storage solutions for data centres and AI computing. Their new offices are a real showcase: sleek design, lots of glass, modern materials. But one thing did not cooperate — making calls was nearly impossible.

The problem: a Faraday cage 300 metres from the mast

Remarkably, the nearest GSM mast stands less than 300 metres from the building. Outside: perfect reception. Inside: one bar or nothing at all. The cause? The full triple glazing with metal coating and the concrete structure of the ground floor together formed a virtually impenetrable Faraday cage. Modern, energy-efficient buildings are notorious for this effect: the very materials that keep heat in also keep GSM signal out.

The solution: tailor-made 4G/5G boosting

After a free site survey, Mercuron mapped the signal strength zone by zone. We installed a 4G/5G boosting system with a donor antenna on the roof — aimed at the nearby mast — and indoor antennas that fully cover the offices and the ground floor.
